Welcome to our website! The Grand Rapids Volunteer Fire Department is located just outside of Wisconsin Rapids. We provide fire suppression and inspection services to the Towns of Grand Rapids and Saratoga in Wood County and to the Town of Grant in Portage County. We also have mutual aid contracts with all Wood and Portage county fire departments, including the communities of Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Biron, Wisconsin Rapids, and Plover.
The department responds to approximately 100 fire related calls and 170 medical related calls per year. We also perform business inspections, safety presentations to local schools, station tours, and other fire prevention activities. Members training occurs twice a month on a wide variety of fire fighting topics and once a month on EMS topics.
